A fabulous mix by none other than Pathaan. This mix is a never release before groovy, exotic, downtempo mix filled with eclectic electronica and global beats.
Pathaan says :
I’m not a politician but am human and sickened by the current world affairs……….
During a time of religious conflict, war, oppression, famine and racism etc etc, can music change & influence man ? I BELIEVE IT CAN !!!
So here begins a story I feel I must share and a mix for you to download !!!
Just under a decade ago, as a mark of respect and to acknowledge in my own way the 1st anniversary of 911, this was a ‘Stoned Asia Music’ priority release in Sept’ 2002 that was never released in THIS form. The reason being, a few of the distributors felt nervous about the tracklisting especially the 1st track and the point I was trying to make through the music !!
So I went back to the drawing board and changed the whole release to get the nervous distributors off my back. That version did very well for the label and can be read about here : www.pathaan.com

For more than 10 years Latrama & Chandra Sound System collective have been spreading their particular way of music understanding in some many ways and places around the world, performing in many forms.
Now, Madrid based producer, multi-instrumentalist, DJ and member of Chandra Sound System; Latrama has released a new album. With a delicate balance of organic, traditional eastern instruments and global breaks all wrapped up in electronica.
The CD is split in two parts. “Love” consists of eight tracks infused with global breaks, Spanish, Indian, Middle Eastern influences. The combination of spicy grooves, crunchy beats and electronic rhythms really grabs your attention and doesn’t let go easily. Totally beautiful!
The second part “Projects” is a display of Latrama’s talent as a remix producer, offering his own perspectives on seven tracks including those by Bob Holroyd, Genetic Drugs and X-file and Aref Durvesh, definitely for the dance floor!
Last thing about this CD … uses the packaging to trigger augmented reality “DJing” of the playlist. Put the CD in front of your webcam, head to a browser-based tool, and you get turntable controls for playing the album live, complete with scratching, pitch, delay, filter, and volume controls.
This thirteen track album is produced by Earthrise Soundsystem‘s Derek Beres. Funnily enough it was on his website where I first spotted it and got really excited Finally an album I can do my Surya Namaskars (Sun Salutations) to.
Being released in the UK tomorrow (29th June 2010) and in the US (17th July 2010) this looks like a marvellous compilation, with a couple of my favourites!
With featuring tracks by Cheb i Sabbah, Karsh Kale, Bombay Dub Orchestra, Azam Ali, Midival Punditz, Lal Meri, EarthRise SoundSystem, Eccodek, Gaudi + Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan, Ceu, Jef Stott & Bob Holroyd which will really set the tone for a yoga session!
