mounqaliba – rising remixes // natacha atlas [free download]
After two highly acclaimed string driven, predominantly acoustic projects, Natacha Atlas returns to the Global Dance-floor with the Mounqaliba Remixes. Globally celebrated singer Natacha Atlas’ latest release Mounqaliba was a decidedly acoustic affair, recorded with a 20-piece Turkish ensemble and a chamber orchestra & integrating western and Arabic styles. Mounqaliba (which means being in a state of reversal’ in classical Arabic) was a stunning set of original songs, evocative interludes, and a beautiful version of Nick Drake’s classic “Riverman“.
From her days singing with Transglobal Underground to her seminal solo releases, Natacha is acknowledged as a pioneer in fusing Middle Eastern and Electronica styles. The Mounqaliba Remixes finds the vanguard of the global fusion world paying homage to one of the most distinctive & beautiful voices in modern music.
Remixers Beats Antique, Nickodemus & The Spy From Cairo, Cheb i Sabbah, Bombay Dub Orchestra, Syriana, David Starfire, Kaya Project, Radiohiro, DoGbeaTs, Zab Spencer, Another Fine Day, The Kaya Project, 310, EarthRise SoundSystem, Basha Beats take Natacha’s latest opus into new directions ranging from lush ambient journeys to dynamic rhythmic explorations.

Cheb I Sabbah // Cancer Treatment Fund
Dear All,
You have probably gathered from the title that this post isn’t going to be upbeat.I recently found out that DJ/producer – Cheb I Sabbah has been diagnosed with stage 4 stomach cancer. Unfortunately the cancer has spread to his liver and now his left lung which means its a race against time.
Due to ill health Chebji has had to cancel many shows which has resulted in mounting medical bills. We, as friends, fans and appreciators of his talents need to help raise funds and spread the word to help Chebji, a person who has given us so many musical delights throughout the years.
Chebji’s contribution to music speaks for itself, his unyielding faith in the vedic and abrahamic traditions has led him to produce fabulous albums such as Krishna Lila, Shri Druga and of course Devotion. Allowing him pay his respects to the original source by meshing hard edge electronica with sacred spiritual mantras enhancing the listening experience.
So please please visit the below link, dig deep and make a d0nation, however big or small it will make a massive difference.

a new day – laya project remixed
EarthSync, a record label and audio-visual production company in Chennai, South India. As a world music record label, EarthSync works with “roots music through which cultures express themselves across time”.
EarthSync released Laya Project, a “personal and collective musical tribute to the resilience of the human spirit”, and is dedicated to the survivors of the 26th December 2004 Asian tsunami. A team of sound engineers and camera men took a two-year journey through six tsunami-afftected countries, India, Indonesia, Sri Lanka, Thailand, Maldives and Myanmar, and recorded film footage. Laya Project producers Patrick Sebag and Yotam Agam recorded local musicians and treated the folk sounds with beautiful downtempo electronica, as tasteful in its application as it is universal in its appeal.
Five years after the Laya Project journey began, urban music embraces diverse traditions and cultures in Laya Project’s musical celebration of life. A New Day – Laya Project Remixed offered the More than twenty of the planet’s top world music DJs the opportunity to choose a track to dabble with for the project.
