mashing up dubstep influences at varying tempos // B.R.E.E.D [free download]
From High Chai Recordings:
Following B.R.E.E.D’s remix of Jalebee Cartel’s “Mirrors” race to number 10 on Beatport’s Top 100 Dubstep charts in January 2010, B.R.E.E.D returns with his 4 track EP on High Chai Recordings. Mashing up dubstep influences at varying tempos with old skool rave references and plenty of dance floor fun, B.R.E.E.D’s new EP INCU-BASS is sure to get people jumping. Choose between the face-pounding drumstep of “Guttersnipe,” the off kilter alien-step of “Low Rider,” the epically orchestral “Scheme Of Strings” or the crunching dubstep of “The Wicked Story.”

The Return of FS
Within a few days of its release “Shake Dat Ass” by New York DJ / Producer FS made it to the top 5 Beatport Dubstep charts as of 03/01/2010.
This release marks the return of FS (of MING+FS). Partnering up with High Chai / Patriarch Recordings, FS delivers his signature style dance music smashed with dubstep providing the listener with an electro-glitch-ridden head banger – floor stomper of a track.

B.R.E.E.D on high chai recordings 26-Jul-10
Long before any DJ in India went international, Ritesh D’souza aka B.R.E.E.D aka DJ Nasha decided to pitch his tent with the leading underground dance movements in the UK and the US.
Constantly introducing new sounds to India, B.R.E.E.D has performed at internationally- acclaimed music festivals like Burning Man in Nevada and the Sunburn festival in Goa.
B.R.E.E.D’s remix of Jalebee Cartel’s “Mirrors” (Nu asian soundZ, High Chai Recordings), raced to number 10 on Beatport’s Top 100 Dubstep charts in January 2010.
With sets that involve the use of different midi controllers, FX processors, samplers and the art of turntablism, setting B.R.E.E.D apart as a new, genre-defying producer and live frequency-tweaking DJ. A commitment to keeping it fresh at every gathering!
A new EP on High Chai Recordings will feature an original B.R.E.E.D burner “Sound Killer” and a remix of Juakali’s “Come from Yard” (original version appearing on Kush Arora’s Dreadbass Chronicles – Kush Arora Productions).
So up for grabs is a FREE DOWNLOAD – a special Midtempo/Glitch mix promoting the new B.R.E.E.D single releasing exclusively on Beatport on July 26th, 2010 on High Chai Recordings.

100th Post + GOONDA competition!
As it’s my 100th post I thought what better way to celebrate than with a competition!
My good friends at High Chai Recordings NYC – the label that brought us Revolution Rising and Nu asian soundZ, have given me 4 copies of GOONDA: Third World Radio as prizes!
So who are GOONDA?
NYC-based production / remixer duo, who have forged a partnership based on a mutual love for music, (DK aka) Bollygirl and Cenzo are GOONDA – created with one goal in mind: good music… no borders… no boundaries.
DK aka Bollygirl
Mumbai born and New York-based producer/DJ/voxist/visualist who redefines and refines the East Coast Bollygirl aesthetic. Stealthily residing on dex @ AVAAZ (the monthly event), heading up High Chai Records and producing tracks at the lab with the GOONDA. DK also a classical Hindi film fanatic has Filmi influences resonating in her music in subtle ways. She continues to crash cultural and musical barriers, defying genres and challenge the listener via her continued efforts of spreading conscious clubbing.
Cenzo
Vincent Schimel, AKA ‘Cenzo, produces urban hard-edged grooves (breaks, drum n bass , chill, dub, rock and hip-hop). Classically-trained as a pianist and singer, he began performing in grade school, but got noticed on MTV after his college funk-rock band Streetwave swept the first prize on the original MTV Basement Tapes contest (with Frank Zappa hosting).
GOONDA Third World Radio is a two disc album that houses an underlying sonic foundation laid by DK and Cenzo. Listen to how they fabricate and fashion a whole host of indigenous sounds with MCs Napoleon Solo (Guasto/Jazz Passengers), Daddy Frank (Surya Dub), Todd Michaelsen (My Pet Dragon/Karsh Kale) and DK (Ming+FS) making a feature on disc one.
Disc two however is a different story altogether. It’s serves as a space for opening their compositions up to friends who offering us stellar global remixes with twists and turns by Chicago’s RadioHiro, UK’s Shiva Soundsystem (BBC), Delhis Jayant, Dhruva G + Sharmaji (Sub Swara), NYC’s own b-boy Ming and more.

2) What was the first release on this label back in 2000 when they were simply High Chai Records?
Once you have the answers:
Email me: nadabrahmanmusic@gmail.com, stating GOONDA COMP as the subject followed by your answers in the main body.
Deadline for the comp is end of June 2010 – so get crackin 🙂
