dj khalid – global mystic podcast + Gig Alert!
Wow its been ages since my last post, too many things going on that have consumed a lot of my time but I’m back so to start it back is a fabulous podcast mix by friend DJ Khalid.
He started off doing Sufi vocals (from the West African tradition) with a group, through my involvement with The International Sufi School – The school of Peace and Service. Through this, they performed at various inter-faith events around the UK as well as Paris France and Dakar Senegal.
DJ Khalid has always been interested in how music is able to help the listener connect to a deeper place within.
He got into radio after sitting in on a friend’s late night show on a Asian commercial station. Since then, He has started off as a volunteer on hospital radio and then worked with a community radio station where he is still involved on an operational level, as well as a brief stint on Asian commercial radio.
DJ Khalid started DJ’ing a couple of years ago, mostly into alternative sounds. Biggest gig to date was playing along side Bobby Friction and Nerm at Vibe Bar a couple of months ago.
This new podcast, the DJ will be diving into experimenting with putting different genres and styles together as well as showcasing artists that he’s really feeling.
The first episode features some amazing tracks from the likes of Floating Points and Utah Jazz, plus there’s an interview with Take, one of LA’s finest Beats producers.
